Singapore is a multi-ethnic island nation located next to Malaysia and to the north of Indonesia. The official language is English and it is the economic and business capital for Southeast Asia. Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in the world with a small Christian population and is a nation comprised of thousands of islands spread over a large area. While there are areas of economic prosperity in the country, there is also substantial poverty.
The cost of the trip is $1,800.00 per person. This covers round-trip airfare from Pittsburgh to Singapore and return. The Diocese of Singapore is covering all travel from Singapore to Batam to West Timor and then back to Singapore. They will also be providing lodging and meals for the team. There will also be an opportunity for clergy/lay leader training and ministering in local Anglican congregations.
The team will be representing Trinity School for Ministry in the Diocese of Singapore and more specifically the Indonesian deanery. The purpose of the trip is to lead two Bible camps in English. The first will be on the island of Batam, just south of Singapore, and the second one will be in West Timor. The team will be working with Christians who are members of the Anglican Church and other Christian churches.
